BLOG: On My Way

Monday afternoon.

Currently sitting at a random bar in the airport after missing my flight by exactly 5 minutes. Sigh. I truly am a prisoner of the Kingdom. Can’t even leave without getting the shakedown… again.

Finally got the package delivered to my Auntie. She was so grateful. The smile on her face when she saw the gold box of Chinese Ginseng was priceless. It was hard to say goodbye to her and the owner of the coffee stand I visit every day. I am grateful they appreciated the gifts I got them before I went away.

Hosted Part 2 of my going away party last night at the American Bar. I got a few more stragglers in there to see me off. I am sad to report that I did not get a chance to see Finn or any of my Irish Family again. That was disappointing. However, I did get to see my Aussie friend, who I now call The Dragon (because we are both Dragons in the Chinese zodiac), and my friend from Chicago.

I also invited my friend who I met through YouTube. She brought her boyfriend. They were doing a lot of PDA with each other. It was really awkward for everyone else there. At one point I even said, “Hey, get a room, there’s a hotel right over there.”

Too much. Too much.

Overall, the night was pretty lowkey. We just drank and smoked and played pool. Nobody yelled at me. There were no fights or arguments. It was just a very chill vibe. Exactly what I wanted. Nothing exciting to report at all.

Packed up everything this morning, smoked one last time on the rooftop, and set off to the airport. I feel very hopeful about my second chance in Hong Kong. I definitely have a stronger sense of purpose now after my experiences in Thailand, Bali, and Malaysia. No more loafing around. Not that it is possible to be lazy in HK. If you aren’t moving at full-speed, you’re just going to get trampled alive.

Nothing else to say for now. Just to have to sit around waiting forever since I had to change my flight. I tried to get into the airline lounge, but I haven’t accumulated enough Frequent Flyer miles yet. What a let down. They wouldn’t even give me a day pass to check it out. Lame.

Just going to check out and scroll now. So tired. What an adventure it’s been…

See you later, Bangkok. Thank you for everything. I’ll always remember our time together fondly. Thank you to the friends who became my family and to everyone who helped me get back on my feet when I was down. Thank you for leading me out of faerie land alive.

Also, I just want all FOUR of my “Bangkok Boyfriends” to know that you are special to me in your own unique way. Especially the last one, who appears to have taught me a lesson I needed to learn. Forgive me if continue to use the metaphor of your Hot Beef Stew to inspire my writing on these cold, lonely Hong Kong Nights.

🙂 🙂 🙂

*giggles*

Off we go!

There is no word for goodbye in Lakota. We only say… See you later!
