BLOG: Expect Nothing

Wednesday.

I’m currently at home, watching TV and drinking tea. I have taken on the influence of all of the Englishmen around me and started drinking tea every day in the afternoon. I admit that it does help me stay calmer. I get it now.

Yesterday was productive for me again. I did all my chores, dropped off the laundry, and endured the pain of a Brazilian wax for whenever Mr. S is back in town. I admit I am not expecting much. Usually when I get a Brazilian, the guy immediately disappears. We will see if he returns for some birthday sex!

I decided to take the evening off last night and go out with the girls. We did the Double Decker Bus Tour across Hong Kong Island to Kowloon. We wandered around TST, ate pork buns and drank beer, then took the Star Ferry back to Central. We went up to the Cantina for drinks and sat on the patio overlooking the Escalator. It was a very calming, relaxing night.

Until…

Down the hill came one of the bartenders from the Secret Society with her Krewe in tow. One of the friends was very drunk and very inappropriate with me and my friends. He followed one of them upstairs to the bathroom and was creeping around waiting for her. She was pretty upset.

Later I stopped at the corner bar on my way home. The guy in question was sending me inappropriate messages, which greatly annoyed me. He also asked me if I want to do a bunch of drugs with them at the Shangri La, an invitation I politely declined.

I was about to block him when he and his friend stepped out of the bar directly across the way from me. They spotted me immediately and crossed the street to join me. I was not happy to see them again, but I also wasn’t particularly interested in the person I was conversing with at the time. She has been here for a month, hates living here, and misses her life back in the UK. Boring!

She got up from the table and went outside to talk to her friend. The creepy guy followed her and started harassing her instead of me. His friend just shook his head and sighed. He tried to rein him in but it just wasn’t working. I extracted myself from the situation and wandered home very late.

The creeper invited me to his birthday tonight on Lamma, an invitation I obviously declined. I hope I don’t see him again anytime soon, personally. He definitely wasn’t my favourite character I’ve met here in HK. Oh well. Onto the next one…

My day was relatively calm. No meltdowns, no tantrums, no panic attacks, no nightmares. Just me confronting reality and sitting with the situation comfortably. It is what it is. The only thing to be done about it is to just keep moving forward. There is no turning back now.

I have resolved not to go out for the rest of the week. I need to scale my social life way back. Less going out to the bars and more staying at home writing and watching movies in my neighbor’s sweatpants. It’s not glamourous, but neither is being broke and unemployed in a foreign country.

Off now. I have plans to watch TV all night. Ta ta!
